But more importantly, we are uniquely tuned to the informational needs of the laboratory industry, since our company comprises mainly people with a chemistry, engineering and laboratory background. Leading Edge Technologies - As the timeline in the History of Success section illustrates, LABLynx has been at the forefront in adopting leading edge technologies, and continues to do so. We are currently evolving ELab' s service-oriented architecture even more, to leverage the future technologies emerging in the new Web 2.0. These include a comprehensive SOA, utilizing the latest XML-based technologies like SOAP, UDDI, DISCO and others to be well placed to offer complete LIMS and LIMS-related functions and services a la carte, along with various other laboratory industry services and products in a single package. LABLynx is very much dedicated to the interests of the laboratory industry in general, and the free flow of information therein.

Laboratory Informatics Institute- LABLynx has taken the lead in the Laboratory Information Management industry in many ways, and this area is one of them. While we enjoy membership in a number of chemistry and laboratory related bodies, we have taken things a step or two further.

Surveying the laboratory information management sector, President John H. Jones was struck by the distinct absence of organization/structure, advocacy, training, certification and services offered impartially for the benefit of laboratories and their personnel with regard to Informatics. As a direct consequence, the Laboratory Informatics Institute was recently founded where LABLynx, Inc. was the founding member.

The following the announcement of its establishment, with a description of its purpose and philosophies, published in LIMSfinder July 17, 2006:

Atlanta, GA - July 17, 2006 – The Laboratory Informatics Institute was established on June 19, 2006. This new organization has been created as a laboratory industry trade association for the education, standardization and promotion of the functional and professional areas of Laboratory Informatics.

Our goal at the Institute is to offer an open membership program to all individuals and organizations that service or are employed within the laboratory industry. Our mission is to help all laboratories become more efficient and automated through the adoption of Laboratory Informatics applications and systems. By establishing an open trade association, the members of the Institute will help shape and direct the future Laboratory Informatics standards. Our members will help educate and inform other members and the Institute will provide tools and resources to help all laboratories adopt a level of Laboratory Informatics that is right for them.

It is our job to grow our member base by providing real value to all of our industry stakeholders through education, tools, and information resources that can only be found through a cooperative like the Laboratory Informatics Institute

Laboratories have existed for a long time while the area of Laboratory Informatics is in its relative infancy. By establishing the Laboratory Informatics Institute and making it open to all laboratories, laboratory professionals and suppliers; the entire laboratory industry and those that it serves, will benefit in the same way that other industries benefit from trade associations that have been established for over 100 years.

It is our job to grow our member base by providing real value to all of our industry stakeholders through education, tools and information resources that can only be found through a cooperative like the Laboratory Informatics Institute.

The Laboratory Informatics Institute was established by John H. Jones who is the acting managing director and president of the Institute and is also president of LABLynx, Inc., an Atlanta-based laboratory informatics software company.

We have long recognized the need for an industry-wide trade association to serve all laboratory informatics stakeholders. The growth of the Laboratory Informatics Institute will be accomplished through “ Open Membership ” and as an industry trade association. And through all of our members we will deliver innovations, lower costs, improved quality and ever-increasing customer satisfaction, along with improved market efficiency. These are benefits that all members will enjoy.

According to Mr. Jones, “ It is my objective to launch the Laboratory Informatics Institute and to actively solicit the involvement of ALL industry stakeholders and to provide the forum and institutional controls needed so that the Institute is directed by the membership collective. The Institute must now and always be, open to all Laboratory Industry stakeholders and membership driven in its direction.

Over the coming months, the Institute will be establishing its web presence and acquiring resources to initiate plans and programs for the benefit of the entire Laboratory Industry. We openly invite all laboratory suppliers and consumers to contact us and to help us with this development process.

Publishing Services - The publishing component of the Institute is the industry standard publication, LIMSfinder www.limsfinder.com . As current president of the Institute, Mr. Jones seeks to combine the resources of both LIMSfinder and the Institute ’ s membership to provide services of the highest order to the laboratory industry, and establish standards and certifications that ensure that laboratories can expect the same superior performance from Laboratory Information Management Systems, their implementation teams and vendors, and related products and services, that they strive to offer their own customers on a daily basis.

Setting the Standard - Over the course of the years, the laboratory management paradigm has shifted – much like that in other industries – to one that has realized the need to leverage technology effectively in order to function in today ’ s world successfully. As these changes have occurred, the corresponding standardizations and structure have lagged. LABLynx, through our own performance and through the establishment of the Laboratory Informatics Institute, is proud to be able to be a part of the solution process. For instance, the establishment of User Group Forums in the Institute offers a place for informatics discussions not only for users of LABLynx products, but for any members to discuss informatics products world-wide.

The founding of the Laboratory Informatics Institute as discussed above is just another example of LABLynx ’ commitment to the best interests of the industry in general, and its growth through advocacy, qualitative services, and the establishment of Informatics standards and certifications.
