About Your Role
The Applications Scientist is a laboratory systems SME (Subject Matter Expert) for our potential and ongoing clients. This position is an exciting opportunity to interact directly with laboratory professionals from every industry and discipline worldwide. You will learn and grow in understanding of their varied approaches, as you apply your thorough understanding of laboratory data management systems like LIMS, LIS, ELN and more to their unique processes. This role offers a clear path to growth opportunities as we empower you to become fully conversant with our solutions, helping you to help laboratories transform their operations through your expertise. What You'll Do
Your first challenge will be to leverage your familiarity with laboratory settings and processes to learn and interpret the LabLynx cloud-based systems and how to best apply them to the wide range of needs of all kinds of laboratories. As you become more fluent with each type of lab, you will apply your learned expertise to meet their challenges. You'll energize potential clients by demonstrating our software through online meetings, learning about their unique needs, and providing cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing solutions that exceed their expectations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage all aspects of the lab relationship from initial contact through closing and client onboarding
- Respond immediately and appropriately to contact requests and inquiries from laboratories worldwide
- Conduct engaging software demonstrations via phone and online meetings for prospects across various industries
- Develop customized quotes, proposals, and work plans based on individual customer needs and requirements
- Identify, define, document, and review project requirements with potential clients
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the process
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Manage leads through stages from initial contact to LabLynx solution opportunity to becoming a client
- Maintain meticulous notes and follow-up activities in CRM systems
- Travel to represent LabLynx at trade shows and industry events when needed
- Communicate effectively with Business Executives, Laboratory personnel, IT Staff, and Software Developers
What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory, science, engineering or related field
- 1-3 years of customer-facing work experience
- Excellent communication and people skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated, independent, and detail-oriented approach to work
- Good grasp of technology and ability to learn software programs quickly
- Proficiency in daily management tools (CRM, online meeting platforms, email, Excel, Word)
- Solid reasoning and logic skills, time management abilities, and analytical thinking
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a constantly changing environment
- Professional presentation and appearance for client interactions
- Willingness to travel for trade shows and client meetings as needed
- Genuine desire to help laboratories meet their challenges
What Will Make Us Really Love You
- Prior laboratory experience with hands-on understanding of laboratory workflows and systems
- Previous experience in subject matter expert role, technical sales or sales engineering roles
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Knowledge of laboratory informatics, LIMS/LIS, ELN and/or related systems
- Experience with SaaS or cloud-based software
- Understanding of healthcare, manufacturing, environmental, or forensic laboratory environments
- Track record of meeting or exceeding goals or quotas
- Ability to adapt, pivot and think out of the box to deliver
